Global Connections
We have forged lasting and valuable relationships with leading research, government, community and health organisations around the globe.
Examples of our strong global connections include:
- Work with organisations throughout the USA and Canada on software training for people who are blind or vision impaired. Staff member Annette Thompson visited the Carroll Centre for the Blind in Boston, the Accessing Higher Ground Conference in Westminster near Denver, a training materials developer and the Canadian National Institute for the Blind in Toronto under a Churchill Fellowship.
- Participation at international seminars and conferences. In February 2010 staff member Greg Kearney presented at the International Seminar on Textbooks in DAISY Format - Future of Textbooks for All, hosted by the Japanese Society for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities.
- International education links. The Cisco Networking Academy, operated by our Industry Skills Centre in collaboration with Curtin University, has students all over the world, including other States and Territories in Australia, New Zealand, USA, India, and Sri Lanka, amongst others. Academy instructors are qualified and certified through the renowned world-wide Cisco training program.
- Links with international Guide Dog organisations. We are an accredited member of the International Guide Dog Federation who set the standards for the training of Guide Dogs all over the world.
We are also involved in several international research projects.
