Our State
Boasting thousands of kilometres of white sandy beaches, endless blue skies and a modern yet relaxed lifestyle, Western Australia (WA) is considered one of the world's best places to live and work.
At the start of 2010, Western Australia's capital city, Perth, was ranked as the 8th most liveable city in the world*.
WA is Australia's largest state in area, covering 2,645 million square kilometres, and with a population of over 2.1 million people. With a tropical climate, turquoise waters and spectacular gorges in the north, and a Mediterranean climate, wineries and forests in the South West, WA varies vastly from region to region and offers something for everyone.
Perth is a major gateway city to Asia. Located within the same time zone as Hong Kong, Beijing, Singapore and Malaysia, major airlines fly between the cities several times a day. Perth has a strong economy and one of the lowest unemployment rates of all major Australian cities.
The Association for the Blind provides services to clients throughout WA. More than 25% or our clients are located in regional areas of the State.
