Volunteers from KPMG and Deloitte have taken time out from their regular duties by volunteering in the Mini Dog Fundraising Program at the Association for the Blind of WA.

Margie Bradley, Major Partnerships Coordinator at the Association, comments on the great effort put in by the teams.

‘A "Mini Dog" is a collection box used to gather donations throughout the Western Australian community. There are approximately 1,500 businesses around Western Australia, both in regional and metropolitan areas, which host a Mini Dog collection box.'

‘Teams from KPMG and Deloitte were asked to either replace full Mini Dogs with empty ones or to approach new businesses to host a coin collection box.'

‘On Tuesday 15 November we had 13 volunteers from KPMG's Audit team. The money collected for the Mini Dog program brought in approximately $4,000 and they also made 15 new placements. It was a fantastic effort.'

‘Following their volunteering, the group participated in a Goalball demonstration. Visitors are generally very interested in Goalball as it's not a commonly played sport. It really brings attention to the recreational activities available to those who are blind or vision impaired.'

On Friday 18 November, 30 Deloitte volunteers assisted the Mini Dog program for the company's annual IMPACT Day.

IMPACT Day is an annual celebration of long-term commitment to community involvement. On IMPACT Day, Deloitte encourages people across the country to set aside their work for one day to contribute their time and talent to benefit local nonprofits.

The group of 30 volunteers placed 23 new Mini Dog coin collection boxes in the community.

On Deloitte's annual day of service, tens of thousands of Deloitte personnel volunteer at more than 800 community service projects in more than 70 communities nationwide. Each volunteer project is organized by local Deloitte personnel and is designed to meet the needs of the nonprofits they support.
