Downloadable Library Services
Our accessible online catalogue allows borrowers to search for books and materials that are immediately available in downloadable format, or can be made available on demand.
Our digital books are produced in special audio book format known as DAISY, which is a world-wide standard developed specifically for people who have a print disability. DAISY files can be played on any mainstream MP3 player, including iPods, mobile phones and PDAs. When played on a dedicated DAISY player, DAISY files have added features, such as the option to navigate by heading, chapter or even page number.
The digital catalogue collection is divided into two parts:
- Works in the public domain including classic works out of copyright and public documents. This collection is open to the public without restriction.
- Copyrighted works produced by the Association. While access to these titles is restricted to clients, these books can be made more broadly available for eligible use. They may be lent to other libraries on inter-library loan or purchased by libraries and individuals. Eligible users include those with a print disability.
In all cases we comply with the Copyright Act (1968) as amended.
