Emergency Appeal

15 April, 2020

Coronavirus (COVID-19) has presented a situation that none of us have ever experienced before, and certainly one that we could never have prepared for.

Guide Dogs WA is facing unprecedented financial pressure, at a time when our clients need us most. The reality is the future of the organisation is under threat.

At Guide Dogs WA we have future Guide and Assistance Dogs to train and life changing dogs and services to deliver to our community’s most vulnerable. The need for these services is greater than ever.

For the first time in a very long time Guide Dogs WA is not able to generate income from community engagement events or our iconic coin Collection Dog program, which has been suspended. Most people in the community would be familiar with iconic Guide Dog containers in shops, cafés and businesses all over WA, and most would have dropped a few coins in them over the years.

This enormous loss of income for Guide Dogs WA will substantially impact upon our ability to purchase puppies and train these special dogs that are required to support Western Australians who are vision impaired or living with a disability. It’s a time that we need your help.

To meet the future requirements of our Guide and Assistance Dog programs, we have a minimum intake requirement of 24 puppies this financial year. We’re currently 6 puppies short. We need to raise a further $300,000 this financial year, to cover the costs associated with purchasing, raising and training 6 new puppies.

We need your help.

By making a generous gift, you can help keep our Guide and Assistance Dog training program operational in Western Australia.

Please telephone our Donor Care Officer on 0403 629 913 to make a donation during business hours.

Your donation will count!

It will help the new recruits on their two year journey from playful pups to becoming working dogs.

Help Guide Dogs WA to continue to provide our life-changing services to our community’s most vulnerable, at a time that will challenge every one of us like never before.

Our friendly Donor Care Officers can be contacted on telephone 0403 629 913 during business hours.

Thank you for your support!
