Volunteer Spotlight - National Volunteer Week. Give a little. Change a lot. 21-27 May 2018
Continuing our series, celebrating National Volunteer Week, which runs from 21 – 27 May, we are spotlighting a few of our incredible volunteers who give up their time to help us deliver our commitment to providing Guide Dogs to the people of West Australia.
Volunteer Gino with Ambassador Dog

1) How Long Have You Been Volunteering For Guide Dogs WA?

Approximately 7 months.

2) Why did you get involved?

I retired and always wanted to do volunteer work with dogs.

3) What do you do for GDWA?

I come into GDWA every Tuesday or as required and assist the team with changing and the cleaning of water bowls, wash the dogs towels and bedding and assist with any jobs that help maintain the Guide Dog Services team. I also assist with Temporary Boarding.

4) What keeps you coming back?

My love of dogs and knowing the importance of what these dogs and trainers do for people in need. So the satisfaction knowing that I can take a very small load off the important work done here, is most rewarding.

Thank you so much, Gino for everything that you do for us – we really appreciate it!

If you have some spare time and would like to get involved in volunteering with us, we’d love to hear from you! Please complete the form below and one of our team will be in touch to discuss how you can help. Please note that volunteers must be at least 16 years of age.
