It is estimated that only 50% of Australians have a current Will, which means that many families will be left with the difficult task of trying to sort out their loved ones’ estate whilst also grieving for their loss.
It’s also very important to update your Will whenever there are any significant changes in your circumstances.
People often put off writing or updating their Will because they feel that it’s too complicated, time-consuming or expensive to do. However, nowadays there are several different ways to write your Will including:
• Meeting with a solicitor or legal adviser
• Using a DIY paper Will kit – normally available at Post Offices or in some newsagents
• Using an online Will-writing platform
If your Will is complex or you have any questions or concerns then it’s best to get professional advice from a solicitor or legal adviser.
If your Will is quite simple and you’re comfortable working online then you could consider using an online Will-writing platform. These are a quick and fairly cheap way of writing or updating your Will.
Guide Dogs WA has partnered with three online Will-writing platforms:
• Gathered Here (link opens in a new window) is a free way to write your Will online

Please note that you don’t have to leave a gift in your Will to Guide Dogs WA to access these Will-writing platforms. The aim is to raise awareness of the option to leave a gift to help provide more Guide and Assistance Dogs for Western Australians who need them in the future if you would like to do so.
